Turns out, there are some pretty interesting things you didn't know about the movie Sin City (and yeah, I know what you're thinking, "Uh, that movie is so old, dude." But trust me, the stuff I found out is worth your time).
Sin City without CGI
Okay, let's start with the obvious. Remember how cool and dark Sin City looked like in the movie? It turns out, it was all thanks to CGI! That's right, folks, without that fancy digital effects, the city would look pretty darn plain.
I bet you're curious about what it looks like, huh? Well, check out the image above. That's Sin City without CGI! Can you believe it? It looks like a regular old town, right? Honestly, I'd be pretty bummed if that's what the movie actually looked like. CGI definitely made it more exciting and unique, don't you think?
Sin City: Brilliant or Not?
Okay, so here's a question for you. Do you think Sin City is brilliant or not? It's definitely a statement film, but is it really as good as people say it is?
Well, turns out, there are some pros and cons to the movie. Let's start with the good stuff first.
Brilliant: The Visuals
There's no denying that Sin City is a visually stunning movie. From the black and white frames to the pops of color (you know, yellow for Nancy's skin, red for blood, and so on), everything comes together to make a really eye-catching film.
Plus, the stylized violence is just... wow. It's brutal and raw, but it's so well done that it almost becomes a form of art. Almost.
So yeah, in terms of visuals, Sin City definitely gets an A+ from me.
Brilliant: The Cast
You have to admit, the cast is pretty darn impressive. Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Clive Owen... The list goes on and on.
Each actor brought something unique to the table and helped make Sin City the classic film that it is today. Plus, you have to give them props for acting in front of a green screen for most of the scenes. That's not an easy feat, folks.
Does Not Hold Up: The Story
Okay, so here's where things get a little dicey. While Sin City is visually stunning and has a killer cast, the story itself... meh.
Don't get me wrong, I love me some film noir and I think the idea of a bunch of interconnected stories is pretty cool, but... Something just feels off about it all, you know?
Plus, the dialogue can sometimes feel a bit forced (looking at you, Marv). Don't get me wrong, I love Mickey Rourke as much as the next person, but some of his lines in the movie just make me cringe.
Does Not Hold Up: The Treatment of Women
Last but not least, let's talk about the treatment of women in Sin City. Yeah, I know, it's a movie about crime and violence and all that, but... Some of the stuff that goes down is just straight up uncomfortable to watch.
From Goldie's murder (not spoiler alert, the movie has been out for ages, folks) to the way the prostitutes are treated, it's just... yikes. I get it, the movie is trying to paint a gritty, harsh reality, but that doesn't make it okay.
All in all, Sin City is a mixed bag. Is it a visually stunning, star-studded movie that's worth a watch? Absolutely. Is it perfect? Definitely not. But hey, that's just my opinion. What do you guys think?
